Fluid dynamics experimental approaches are a non-separable part of any reliable fluid investigation. In this regard I am not just relying on classical fluid measurement technologies but also utilizes the modern fluid measurement technologies such as laser based measurement techniques and high speed imaging. A short list of commercially available infrastructure at our research group:
- Different hot wire anemometers
- 2D Laser Doppler Velocimeter (LDV)
- 2D Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer (PDPA)
- Particle Image Velocimeter System
- Different infrared thermometers from -50 - 1700°C
- Infrared cameras (-50 - 1700°C)
- High speed camera
- Drop-calorimter up to 1550 °C
I am not just using the already existing methods but also developing, establishing and presenting new methods in the form of patents and devices such as:
- Laser-Eye: combining Raman spectroscopy and Laser Doppler Velocimetry, fluid and flow properties of a stream could be measured simultaneously, which will provide a deep understanding of e.g. process streams
- 3-Beam LDV: using a single LDV probe the flow velocity and fluctuations in the three dimensions can be measured
